With The Beggar’s to Londen

After winning three prizes at the renowned Van Wassenaer Concours in 2018, The Beggar’s Ensemble landed a well-deserved tour. This French ensemble brings 18th-century London to life, where the musical agenda was set by such composers as John Christopher Pepusch, William Corbett and Richard Jones.

R. Jones

Suite in d-major, opus 3 No. 3 (1741)
Toccata in d-minor for harpsichord (uit: Suits or Lessons I, 1732)
Chamber air in a-minor opus 2 No. 1 (1735)

J. C. Pepusch
Sonata No. 5 in e-minor for violin, viola da gamba and basso continuo (1709)
W. Corbett
Triosonate opus 1 No. 1 in D major for violin, viola da gamba and basso continuo (1700)700)
A. Corelli
Sonate opus 5 for viola da gamba and basso continuo (1700)
The Beggar’s Ensemble
Augustin Lusson (violin), Mathias Ferré (viola da gamba), Daria Zemele (harpsichord)
To make chamber music from that periode sound in appropriate circumstances, the concert hall is transformed into a "Club Baroque", a cozy salon with tables and unnumbered chairs.
