The mysteries of the night
Merope's songs seem to offer protection from the delusion and clamour of the day, like a cocoon. The band interweaves minimalist melodies and influences from traditional Lithuanian folk, with unique instruments and electronic soundscapes.
Accompanied by big international names, Toma Gouband and Harmen Fraanje, they present their third album Naktės. A poetic ode to the night, simply magnificent.
This album is as delicate as it is deep; something very special indeed.
A very honest, warm and most of all heartwarming registration of what the trio can bring about. Consciousness-expanding music that has a lot from folk, but also with unworldly jazz and especially with adventure and freedom.
