Elias Stemeseder (solo) / 10 years of LABtrio (cd-release)
NEW RECORD AND CELEBRATION
LABtrio (Lander Gyselinck, Anneleen Boehme and Bram De Looze) are three musicians with strong personalities, endowed with a fresh and adventurous approach to music. The trio’s acoustic universe conceals an urban jazz that flirts with electronic, underground and hip-hop cultures.
They play in double bill with Austrian pianist Elias Stemeseder.
ELIAS STEMESEDER (SOLO PIANO)
Austrian born pianist Elias Stemeseder draws inspiration from Stride-, Prepared- and Jazz Piano traditions, the rhythmic intricacy of New Music and the simplicity of songs. His solo program yields a very personal system of references within and outside of these categories.
Stemeseder is mostly known for working in projects directed by musicians like Jim Black, John Zorn, Greg Cohen, Robert Landfermann and Philipp Gropper. More than other settings, the fertile landscape of solo piano allows him to channel all of the diverse expressive palettes he is interested in at once.
He may be gentle in one moment and ferocious in the next one, and you’re likely to hear a mathematically precise rhythmic etude next to a simple Austrian folk song, or a Tin Pan Alley song slowly breaking apart into prepared piano soundscapes.
(…) an impressive solo performance by a pianist we're sure to hear more of in the future.
LABTRIO: THIRD ALBUM
In the winter of 2017 LABtrio will be releasing their third album to celebrate their 10th anniversary. They prepared themselves through summer festivals as Nattjazz, Bilzen Jazz and Roeselare Jazz.
