Istanbul Expres: Sertab Erener
The name might ring a bell, because of Every way that I can, the number one hit which won Sertab Erener the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. In the meantime, this Turkish pop diva has built up an impressive track record.
Following her 1992 debut album Sakin Ol, the soprano released four more albums in Turkish. In the wake of her Eurovision victory, she also recorded an album in English. Here I am and a cover of Bob Dylan’s One more cup of coffee, both featured on this album, were picked up by the international film industry and featured on various soundtracks.
No matter what language she is singing in, Sertab always turns her songs into voluptuous, moving or challenging experiences. A worthy headliner who will surely make this edition of Istanbul Ekspres one to remember.
Sertab Erener (vocals), Gültekin Kaçar (guitar), Türker Çolak (drums), Eser Ünsalan (bass), Ozan Yilmaz (keyboard), Tuluğ Tirpan (keyboard) and Serdar Barçin (horns).
