Dans Dans (CD-release)
The creative drive of Bert Dockx seems unstoppable. No sooner is the second Dans Dans I/II off the presses that he already has a new project on the stage. In their last performance in the Handelsbeurs Dans Dans shared the bill with Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog. Ribot was there in the auditorium, totally inspired by the band. This time, they have come to confirm their superb live reputation with the release of their new album. The previous album (I/II, 2013, Unday/News) was recorded in three days after barely ten rehearsals. The spontaneity emerging from this working process allows the musical feel of the album to also come into its own.
Dans Dans delivers an exuberant and improvisational approach to existing patterns and its own compositions. Breaking free from recognizable melodies, the fantastic themes throw you into a world bursting with strange colors. In any case, the press have found it a real challenge to label their music: garage jazz, psychedelic blues, ecstatic noir soundtracks, spacy rock ‘n’ roll…
All the musicians are also enjoying individual success with other projects. Guitarist Bert Dockx is the founder of Flying Horseman and recently started his own Dutch-language project ‘Strand’. Bassist Fred Lyenn shared the limelight with Marc Ribot and Mark Lanegan. Drummer Steven Cassiers has been collaborating with Dez Mona among others. Dans Dans is a true live band brimming with creative talent.
